The Wedding of the Century!

My sister and new brother in law invited 50 of their closest friends and family to join them at their favorite resort, Amanera, to celebrate Amy’s 50th birthday on April 3rd, and their wedding on April 4th.  I was going to blog all the gory details, but I suddenly feel like it’s not my story to tell.  Amanera, near Rio San Juan, DR, is perfection, the weather was ideal, the bride was beautiful, and Friends and family were charming company.

Just to give a flavor of the events, I will share my favorite quote from the long weekend, which Jeff related to me after the fact.  Exactly at midnight on Amy’s birthday, we all gathered in the beautiful Casa Grande, overlooking the beach and the ocean.  The champagne was flowing, and it was gorgeous.  Then, Stefan’s surprise for Amy started.  It was a Grucci style fireworks show, just for us, lauched up from the beach below, right at eye level.  Amy’s best friend’s husband turned to Jeff and said, “That’s it.  All the men here are doomed, because we will never be able to match this kind of occasion for our wives’ birthdays.  Welcome to being second best.”

Also, if certain people did too many mama-juana shots (a local rum/wine beverage) late one night, who am I to discuss it?  A good time was had by all, and I’m sure they were able to clean up that water feature easily.

So our little excursion to Fantasy Island is over, and it’s back to the salty sailing life.  Of course we will always remember the amazing experience of the wedding of the century, but we both agree, it’s time to go!
